OOPAC

The Ohio Optometric Political Action Committee (OOPAC) is a political action committee that supports candidates and legislators at the Ohio Statehouse who support optometry.

OOPAC is funded through voluntary contributions. OOPAC contributions are separate from OOA dues.

Current issues of importance to optometry include:

FACT: Many Ohio laws continue to be unfavorable to optometry. Examples include patient access, provider discrimination and lack of vision exam requirement for children starting to school. Optometry's voice must be heard.

FACT: In face of Ohio's severe budget crisis in Medicaid and many other areas impacting optometry, Optometry's voice must be heard.

FACT: We must maintain a strong OOPAC to gain access to Ohio elected officials.

The goal is a minimum of $240 donation annually from each OOA member ($20 per month or 66 cents per day).

Optometrists are licensed professionals, and a strong OOPAC is part of doing business.
Contribute today via credit card or monthly withdrawal from a checking account.

Corporate contributions are prohibited. However, partnerships, LLCs and other unincorporated entities may contribute, but must provide the name of an owner to whom to attribute the contribution. Ohio law requires that all contributors must provide their name and address regardless of the amount of the contribution and the name of their employer if the contribution is for more than $100. If the contributor is self employed, the business name and occupation of the contributor must be provided.
