The AOA Aviation Vision Program is sponsored through generous grants from Essilor of America and The Vision Care Institute™, LLC.




This 6-hour course is designed to prepare optometrists to meet the basic needs of their pilot patients.




Aviation Vision



Aviation vision is the area of vision science that deals with all aspects of visual performance in the aerospace environment. These areas include visual acuity, contact lenses in aviation, visual perception, vision standards for aviators, eye protection in aviation and specialized spectacle prescribing for aviators. This section of the AOA Member Web site is designed to present you, the practicing doctor of optometry, with a comprehensive array of resources that will enable you to deliver outstanding specialized care to your aviator patients.

Aviation Vision Committee Mission Statement

Promotes the AOA as the authority in aviation vision, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding aviation safety, assists health care professionals in providing optimal care to patients involved in aviation activities, and educates the public regarding aviation vision.
