ST. LOUIS, January 5, 2009—The Commission on Paraoptometric Certification has announced the schedule for the 2009 regional examinations as well as the dates and locations for the Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT) Practical Examination. The written examinations will be offered via computer at several hundred sites in the U.S., in addition to the current paper administration annually conducted at Optometry’s Meeting®. Computerized administration offers more flexibility in scheduling and reduces the need for travel. The examinations will be offered daily during four, eight-day testing periods as follows:

The Certified Paraoptometric Examinations are prepared and administered by the American Optometric Association, Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC). The purpose of the examinations is to ensure a level of knowledge to perform the functions of a Certified Paraoptometric at each appropriate level.
